Watchlist¶
Your watchlist is the list of stocks and ETFs StockClaw watches for you. News, filings and other sources are matched against it, and your feed, notifications and digest only cover what is on it.
Adding a symbol¶
- On the dashboard, tap Add symbol at the top of the watchlist panel. On the Watchlist page the search box is at the top. On a phone the search opens full screen, so the keyboard does not cover the results.
- Type a symbol (
NVDA,BRK.B,0700.HK,2330.TW) or the company name in English (nvidia,tencent,toyota). One character is enough to search symbols; names need two. - Tap a result to add it. Enter adds the highlighted row, or the result whose symbol is exactly what you typed. A bare code such as
0700picks0700.HKwhen that is the only listing with that code. - Symbols already on your list are marked Added.
- Company names in Chinese, Japanese or Korean are not found yet (
腾讯returns nothing). Use the symbol or the English name.
How many symbols¶
The free version follows up to 5 symbols. When you have 5, Add symbol says so; remove one to add another. If your list had more than 5 before this limit, nothing was removed: every symbol stays on your list, the 5 you added first are monitored, and the others are marked Not monitored (not matched to news, no alerts) until you are back under the limit. Not included: over-the-counter (OTC) listings, other exchanges, mutual funds, warrants, units, rights and preferred shares. For Hong Kong stocks with a second line traded in RMB (80700.HK), only the HKD line is offered.
A symbol that is not a listed stock or ETF on one of these markets is refused when you add it, with a message saying so. Before, any text was saved as a "ticker".
Removing and reordering¶
- Remove a symbol from its row menu on the dashboard, or with the bin icon on the Watchlist page, which asks you to confirm.
- Adds and removes are saved to your account at once, so they are there after a reload and on your other devices. If saving fails, the list goes back to how it was and a message tells you.
- Drag order on the dashboard is saved on this device only. Other devices show the list in the order the symbols were added.
After you add a symbol¶
- The company name is used to build search aliases (for example
LITE→Lumentum,Lumentum Holdings), so news that names the company without the ticker still matches. - A crawl starts straight away, so the first signals can appear within a few minutes instead of at the next 20-minute cycle.
Search results come from the listing data of Financial Modeling Prep and are cached for up to 15 minutes.
